16 arrested in Providence sweep

PROVIDENCE –– City, state and federal officers arrested 16 wanted individuals in an early morning sweep on Tuesday, state police said Wednesday.
State police detectives, Providence police and U.S. marshals took part in the roundup, armed with warrants charging drugs, firearms and other offenses.
State police said the officers acted after an investigation by the Rhode Island State Police Violent Fugitive Task Force.
The following suspects were taken into custody:
•Johnny Elson, 23, of 30 Ocean St., failing to appear in court on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.
•Carlos Rosa, 37, of 36 Miner St., failing to appear in court on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.
•Evens Francois, 31, of 14 Audrey St., failing to appear in court on a charge of possession of marijuana.
•Joseph Kennedy, 30, of 113 Fairview St., failing to appear in court on charges of possession of marijuana, and non-support.
•Joseph Vazquez, 31, of 75 Leah St., failing to appear in court on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.
•Jason Taylor, 28, of 67 Salmon St., failing to appear in court on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.
•Jose Pina, 41, 221 Hanover St., obstruction of a police officer.
•Bobbie Jo Anderson, 33, of 59 Wendell St., drug possession.
•Adalberto Burgos, 30 of 102 Linwood Ave., larceny of firearms.
•Robert Johnson, 23, of 24 Royal St., possession of marijuana.
•John Ducas, 46, of 603 Union Ave., suspended license.
•Heather Johnson, 39, of 32 Perkins St., embezzlement.
•Timothy Pena, 39 of 32 Perkins St., felony shoplifting.
•Tarron Harris, 23, of 63G March St., possession of narcotics.
•James Riley, 23, of 88 Hawkins St., larceny and failure to pay fines.
•Benjamin Buwee, 26, of 27 Zone St., obstruction of justice.
