Saucy customer gets a taste of the law
01:00 AM EDT on Saturday, October 6, 2007
NORTH KINGSTOWN — An unhappy Burger King customer swore at workers and broke the front door at the 7041 Post Rd. restaurant because the “zesty sauce” was missing from his drive-through order, the police said yesterday.
“Instead of saying, ‘Excuse me, I didn’t get my zesty sauce,’ ” North Kingstown police Capt. Charles Brennan said, “he dropped a few ‘f’ bombs,” yelling and swearing at the employee who had served him, then kicked the door on his way out, breaking the glass.
A witness noted the plate number on the car in which the customer drove south on Route 1, and when the police stopped the car, they found it was unregistered and had it towed.
Officer Joel Mulligan escorted the driver back to the restaurant, where employees nodded their heads and said, “That’s him.”
Christopher M. Lavigne, of 485C Tower Hill Rd., was charged with vandalism and disorderly conduct. A hearing was set for Oct. 23 in District Court.
