The African Health Summit for African Community Health will hold free health screenings regarding healthy behaviors and disease prevention, learning how to navigate the health-care system with or without insurance, and explaining how to prevent and detect cancer. The event, presented by the African Alliance composed of the African Alliance of Rhode Island, the American Cancer Society and the Rhode Island Department of Health, Minority Health Program, will be held tomorrow at The Met School, 325 Public St., Providence, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. To register, call (401) 222-2901.

Roger Williams Medical Center will host a Cancer Survivors Day tomorrow. The free event at the Rhode Island Convention Center begins at 9 a.m. with a talk by Susan Gemma, education director of the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource and Wellness Center. Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island will present the following free bereavement support groups: The Parents Losing Adult Children Bereavement Support Group, Wednesdays, 6 to 7:30 p.m., through June 25, at Elmhurst Extended Care, 50 Maude St., Providence. The After the Rainbow Bereavement Support Group for gay men and women is held the first and third Thursday of the month, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., at Reflections Coffee Shop, 486 Wickenden St., Providence. Children and Adults with Attention Deficit Disorder (CHADD), a support network for individuals or parents with children who have the disorder, will present a program on “Peaceful Parenting” by author and psychologist on human motivation Nancy Buck. Family Health Services and AIDS Project Rhode Island will hold the third annual LGBT Health and Wellness Fair, Saturday, June 7, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at 1090 Cranston St., Cranston. Sargent Rehabilitation Center holds an adult Aphasia Conversation Group, on the second Tuesday of the month beginning June 10 and continuing July 8, Aug. 12 and Sept. 9, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at the center, 800 Quaker Lane, (front building), Warwick. The American Lung Association of Rhode Island will hold support meetings from 1 to 2 p.m., at Vasa Hall, 43 Bald Hill Rd., Cranston, on Wednesday, June 11, preparing for the summer. Membership is not required. For information, call (401) 421-6487.
