R.I. man killed in rollover accident on Route 95 in Attleboro
01:00 AM EDT on Tuesday, September 2, 2008
ATTLEBORO — A Pawtucket man was killed yesterday when he was thrown from his car after it rolled over and crossed lanes of traffic on Route 95.
The police had notified the man’s family, but were not releasing his name last night.
Around 6 p.m., a man was driving a 2000 Ford Explorer northbound near Route 1A when he lost control of the sport-utility vehicle, said Lt. Eric Anderson of the Massachusetts State Police. The SUV landed in the median and the driver was thrown from the vehicle as it rolled. He was taken to Rhode Island Hospital in serious condition and later pronounced dead, Anderson said.
The man was not wearing a seat belt.
The state police accident reconstruction team was investigating the scene, Anderson said. The police did not know the cause of the accident last night, but said that speed was a factor.
