Worker injured in fall from roof in East Providence
01:00 AM EDT on Thursday, August 21, 2008
EAST PROVIDENCE — A local man was in critical condition at Rhode Island Hospital last night after he fell from a Hazard Avenue roof he was working on.
Police Lt. Stephen Enos said the emergency call came in at 3:55 p.m. for the injured man at 181 Hazard Ave. Enos said a construction company was working on the roof of a new garage when Jose Lourenco, 47, of East Providence, tripped and fell.
He landed on his head on the pavement below, Enos said. He was transported by the city’s fire personnel to Rhode Island Hospital for his head injuries and was listed as critical when the police last checked.
Enos said the incident was deferred to the department’s detective division for further investigation, but that it “appears ac)cidental at this point.”
