Kitty Dukakis to speak at Butler

PROVIDENCE — Kitty Dukakis, the former first lady of Massachusetts and wife of 1988 presidential candidate Michael Dukakis, tomorrow night will discuss her battle with depression, bipolar disorder and drug addiction and a controversial treatment that helped her to recovery.
Dukakis, author of the 2006 autobiography Shock, will discuss her experience with electroconvulsive therapy.
“An Evening with Kitty Dukakis” is free and open to the public at Butler Hospital, but reservations are recommended because seating is limited. The lecture is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. in the Ray Conference Center on Butler’s grounds off Blackstone Boulevard, Providence.
