N. Smithfield man faces child-molestation charges
01:00 AM EDT on Wednesday, July 1, 2009
A North Smithfield man is being held without bail at the Adult Correctional Institutions on multiple counts of child molestation.
The Coventry police on Thursday charged Ramiro Morales, 37, of 25 Lapre Rd., with four counts of child rape and one count of second-degree child molestation. And the North Smithfield police have charged Morales with five counts of child rape and three counts of second-degree child molestation.
Both cases have been referred to a grand jury.
Morales had been free on bail on 10 counts — five each of child rape and second-degree child molestation — filed by the Cranston police in June 2008. That case is currently in Providence County Superior Court.
Bail hearings were set for July 9 on the Coventry charges and July 10 on the North Smithfield counts.
