(We link our gig listings to mp3s so readers can hear bands before they choose which shows to go to.

First, gather your materials: BAND DESCRIPTION, MUSIC FILES, and a BAND PHOTO.

You'll be asked to select a category for your music; choose this category carefully to attract the audience you want. You will also need a paragraph or two describing your band/music.

Music files may be of any common type - MP3, RealAudio, Windows Media files, Ogg Vorbis, etc. However at this time, MP3 files are preferred because visitors to projo.com/music can now stream these files to their computer rather than downloading the entire file.

Band photos may be of any size and almost any format. For best results, your photo should be a JPG file of at least 400 pixels in width.

If you need some help, post your questions here in our musician's bulletin board. A computer-savvy volunteer will help you.

If you're barely online, we'll make digital files for you as time permits. Print this form, fill it out, and mail it with your CD (preferably) or tape to: Music at Projo.com, 75 Fountain St., Providence, RI 02902 -- or bring it to the Providence Journal information desk at this address. If you want to upload your files now, click "Proceed" below to set up a page for your band on projo.com/music.

NOTE: There is no progress bar to indicate your music file upload is taking place. After filling in the information, and selecting your music file, click on "Upload" and then be patient. These are rather large files and will take time to upload. When your upload is complete you'll see a confirmation.

What if it doesn't work?

Send email to lennon at projo.com with the name of your band and one song in the subject line (i.e. Johnston Dump - Smell the Air.mp3) and attach the mp3 to the message; send up to 3 messages like this. Since you're already registered, we'll make sure we have the whole file and upload it to the site for you.
