Mozart at Music Mansion, organ recital at cathedral

JODRY
Mary Sadovnikoff teams up with fellow fortepianist Michael Bahmann at the Music Mansion tomorrow night for an evening of four-hands Mozart on the replica of a Mozart-era piano. Joining them will be soprano Andrea Matthews, a Brown University freshman, who’ll be singing Mozart arias and leider.
The concert, which takes place at 8 p.m., is a benefit for Museum Concerts, the early music series that Sadovnikoff helped found more than 40 years ago. Tickets are $50 at the door, $10 for students. The Music Mansion is at 88 Meeting St., Providence.
Fred Jodry, head of Museum Concerts, will be helping prepare the food, which will be served in the garden, weather permitting. He said it would be best to call (401) 274-5073 for reservations, so he can get a head count.
Meanwhile, Jodry will be giving a free organ recital Sunday at 3 p.m. on the big four-manual Cassavant organ at the Cathedral of SS. Peter & Paul, Cathedral Square, Providence. He’ll be playing selections by Bach, the composer’s magnificent Fantasy and Fugue in G Minor, Widor, Durufle and Olivier Messiaen.
This will be a rare local keyboard outing for Jodry, who studied organ at the New England Conservatory in Boston. He is best known around here as a choral conductor, with his Schola Cantorum of Boston and the Brown University Chorus.
