R.I. talent flocking to Blackstone River Theatre’s annual homecoming concert
01:00 AM EST on Thursday, November 26, 2009
The Blackstone River Theatre holds its ninth annual fundraising Homecoming Concert and Silent Auction Saturday, featuring Rhode Island-based talent in a variety of genres ranging from Pendragon’s Celtic-derived balladry to Martin Grosswendt’s acoustic blues to The Atwater-Donnelly Trio’s old-time Americana to The Occidental Gypsy Jazz Quartet’s — um — gypsy jazz, and a whole lot more. The BRT is maybe the best venue in the state, and this is a great way to hear a range of what they present in one go.
The Blackstone River Theatre is at 549 Broad St., Cumberland, and the show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20; call (401) 725-9272.
The Slip make their annual return to Providence, where it all began for them, Saturday at Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel, 79 Washington St., Providence, at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $15; call (401) 331-5876 or go to www.etix.com.
