Providence Public Library begins film noir series

The classic thriller “The Maltese Falcon,” starring Humphrey Bogart, will kick off free Sunday matinee film noir screenings at the Providence Public Library’s Auditorium at 2 p.m. Sunday.
The program, which will run through Jan. 31, will include “Double Indemnity” on Nov. 29, “The Big Sleep” Dec. 6, “Notorious” Dec. 13, “The Third Man” Dec. 20, “White Heat” Jan. 3, “Sunset Boulevard” Jan. 10, “The Big Heat” Jan. 17, “Touch of Evil” Jan. 24” and “Vertigo” Jan. 31.
The 300-seat auditorium is on the third floor of the library, 150 Empire St.
