Seekonk teachers, School Committee reach tentative agreement
01:00 AM EDT on Wednesday, July 23, 2008
SEEKONK — The School Committee and the Seekonk Educators Association have reached a tentative agreement on a new three-year pact for the teachers’ union, Schools Supt. Emile Chevrette said yesterday.
Chevrette would not release any details of the labor agreement. The union is scheduled to vote on ratifying the agreement on Sept. 2, the day before school starts for the year. The contract will be retroactive to June 30, when the existing agreement expired.
Both sides have been negotiating since last December, Chevrette said.
Voters at the fall Town Meeting will ultimately have the say in approving any pay raises contained in the contract.
