Fall River Homeless Shelter Seeks Donations

FALL RIVER - The First Step Inn, Fall River’s Homeless Shelter for Men and Women operated by Steppingstone Inc., is seeing an increase in homelessness due to the foreclosure crisis. The crisis is being seen both financially and through the utilization of overflow beds since Thanksgiving week.
As a result of the economic downturn, the shelter is seeking donations of towels, blankets, gloves, socks, soap, shampoo and coffee to assist them in meeting the needs of the homeless during this winter season.
Donations can be dropped off 175 North Main St. any time of day, as the shelter is open 24-hours a day, seven days a week. For information, call (508) 679-8001.
