Victim identififed in death at Fall River apartment
01:00 AM EDT on Tuesday, July 1, 2008
FALL RIVER –– The man killed early Friday morning in his apartment on Hamlet Street was identified yesterday as Derrick Hogue, 33, by the Bristol County district attorney’s office.
Gregg Miliote, spokesman for the district attorney, would not release Hogue’s name previously because the family had not been immediately located. Miliote declined to say how Hogue was killed. The spokesman also would not comment on whether the police had any leads or suspects.
Miliote said an arrest had been made during the investigation, but not in connection with the homicide. Jesus Gomes, of Brockton, Mass., was arrested and charged with intimidation of a witness for allegedly misleading police and obstructing justice.
The police have no one in custody for the homicide, Miliote said. Though neighbors are reporting hearing gunshots at the residence the night of the homicide, Miliote would not comment on whether a gun was involved.
“Neighbors have said what they said … but we’re not going to reveal that right now,” he said.
Miliote also said the homicide “appears to be an isolated incident, so the public should not be overly concerned.”
