Somerset imposes traffic restrictions for fireworks viewing
01:00 AM EDT on Thursday, July 3, 2008
SOMERSET — The police will establish traffic and parking restrictions in the Brayton Point neighborhood tomorrow evening in anticipation of the annual influx of people who want to watch Fall River’s Fourth of July fireworks display, which takes place at Heritage State Park.
The restrictions for Brayton Point and Holiday Lanes are necessary, the police say, to ensure that public safety vehicles can access the neighborhoods in the area in case of an emergency.
The ban will begin at 6 p.m. and continue until after the fireworks are over and the neighborhood is clear of traffic. In the event the fireworks are postponed due to inclement weather and are rescheduled for Saturday, the same restrictions will apply.
