Annual homecoming: The Camp Cachalot Alumni Association will hold its fourth annual homecoming Saturday, beginning at noon at Cachalot Scout Reservation, Plymouth, Mass. Camp Cachalot, whose name is taken from the French and Portuguese term for “sperm whale,” is a Boy Scout camp that has served youth throughout southeastern Massachusetts and southern Rhode Island, from Tiverton through Wareham, since 1946.

In addition to the usual social events and tours of the camp, members of Cachalot’s “Class of ’46” will be on hand. Several members of the camp staff from Cachalot’s first summer of operation will share their memories and experiences. Homecoming 2008 is free to association members and nonmembers alike. An optional lunch will be available for a suggested donation of $5. More information, including a form to RSVP, is available at the camp’s Web site, www.cachalotalumni.org/events/homecoming2008/. Information is also available at homecoming2008@cachalotalumni.org.
