A Day with Mary: On Sept. 6, Our Lady’s Chapel, 600 Pleasant St., New Bedford, will hold a day of instruction, devotion and intercession, based on the message given at Fatima in 1917. The event, which is titled “A Day With Mary,” will begin at 9 a.m. with a Fatima video presentation in the church hall, followed by a procession, a crowning ceremony, a sermon, meditations and the conferment of the “miraculous medal.” For information, call 996-8274.
Somerset
At the library: An informational seminar on senior safety in the home by Next Monitoring Inc. will be held Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in Somerset Public Library, 1464 County St.
Discussion topics will include options available in helping the elderly be more independent. Those attending will be able to get an understanding of the types of medical alarms that are available. For more information, contact the library at 646-2829.
Somerset Council on Aging: Southcoast will offer a cardiac prevention program Friday from 9 a.m. to noon at Somerset Council on Aging, 115 Wood St. The group will perform cholesterol, blood sugar and blood pressure screenings. Appointments are not necessary.
Somerset Recreation Department: Free family yoga in the park, a Somerset Recreation Department program taught by Diane Rodrigues, owner of Infinity Yoga & Wellness Center, will be held Sunday from 4 to 4:45 p.m. at Pierce Beach Park. The class will be followed by a free concert by Wolfgang starting at 5:30 p.m.
Those who plan to attend the class should bring a towel for yoga. For more information, contact the Recreation Department at 646-2808.
Swansea
Animals at the library: Swansea Public Library, 69 Main St., will celebrate the end of its summer reading program, Friday at 1 p.m., when Animal Adventures brings its traveling animal show to the library. The event is open to children of all ages and the public is invited.
Animals visiting include a hedgehog, a skunk, lizards and turtles. The program’s special guests will be a ring-tailed lemur and a wallaby.
Summer reading program participants are asked to remember to bring their animal maps to get stickers. For more information, contact the library at 674-9609.
Westport
Soup and sandwich supper: Acoaxet Chapel, 36 Howland Rd., will hold a soup and sandwich supper Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
On the menu will be chowder, kale and lentil soups; tuna, egg and ham salad sandwiches, potato chips, strawberry shortcake and beverages. For reservations, call Myron Simmons at (401) 635-4857.
