FALL RIVER

Garden Club meeting: The Fall River Garden Club will meet Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in Union United Methodist Church, 600 Highland Ave. Christina Wordell, a Somerset Conservation Commission agent, will discuss the potential uses of the Brightman Street Bridge.

Following the program, club members will demonstrate how to create fall arrangements with pumpkins. Guests are welcome.

New York trip: The Greater Fall River Art Association will host a day trip to New York Nov. 25. The trip will leave from Slade’s Ferry Bank, 100 Slade’s Ferry Ave., Somerset, at 6:30 a.m. and leave New York at 8 p.m. The trip costs $40 for association members and $42 for others. The fee includes coach, driver tip and coffee and doughnuts. Call (508) 675-5818 or (508) 673-0000 to reserve a seat.

REHOBOTH

Drumstick for Charity: The second annual Drumstick for Charity, a benefit concert for the Concerns of Police Survivors sponsored by the members of Final Approach and the Massachusetts Fraternal Order of Police, will be held Wednesday at Francis Farm, 27 Francis Farm Rd., from 8 p.m. to midnight. Doors open at 7 p.m.

The event will benefit the Massachusetts chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors, Inc., a national nonprofit organization that helps surviving law enforcement families of officers killed in the line of duty. Tickets will be available at the door.

New Orleans bound: Eight members of the Rehoboth Congregational Church will head for New Orleans as part of a disaster relief team Jan. 6 and return home Jan. 13. They hope to take with them donated children’s books and games, and gift certificates to Home Depot, Lowe’s, Target, Sears and Walgreens. The cost to each team member for the week in New Orleans is $900. This covers airfare, vehicle rental, groceries, tools and materials which may be needed for the week’s work.

Those who would like to donate new or gently used children’s books and games, gift certificates or money toward the trip expenses can leave donations at Rehoboth Congregational Church, Locust Street, weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. or on Sunday mornings. Questions about donations should be directed to the Rev. Scott Spencer at (508) 252-4545. Checks to support those who are going to help Katrina victims can be made payable to Rehoboth Congregational Church and mailed to the church office at Box 325, Rehoboth.

SWANSEA

Class of 1971: Joseph Case High School Class of 1971 will hold its 35th reunion Nov. 24, at 8 p.m. at the Quequechan Club, 306 North Main St., Fall River. Tickets cost $18 per person. Checks should be made payable to Case High School Class of 1971 Reunion and mailed to: Reunion Committee, 86 Ralph Chapman Rd., Swansea MA 02777. Donations are being accepted for a scholarship to be awarded in 2007 in memory of classmate Bob Cabral. Donations should be written on a separate check and should be made payable to Reunion Committee/Scholarship Fund.

Holiday shopping and open house: Community Autism Resources, 2315 Grand Army Highway, will hold a holiday shopping and open house event Nov. 24 and Saturday, Dec. 9 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Autism awareness items, a number of books related to autism spectrum disorders and autism tattoo kits that help identify a lost child will be sold at the event. Tickets will be on sale for Real Simple’s Festival of Giving at The Swansea Mall only on Nov. 24. Free refreshments, a free drawing for a door prize and a raffle of gift baskets will be held on both days.

All proceeds from the holiday shopping and open house will benefit Community Autism Resources, a nonprofit agency that provides free services to people with autism spectrum disorders, their families and the professionals who assist them.
