Computer programmer to speak: Computer programmer and entrepreneur Igor Kholodov will speak at Bristol Community College’s Fall River Campus in room H-209 in the Jackson Arts Center, 777 Elsbree St., on Tuesday at 10 a.m. Kholodov will speak with students about the computer-board-game industry. Boxing tournament: The Police Athletic League of Fall River will host this year’s 122nd annual U.S.A. New England Amateur Boxing Tournament in the Police Athletic League Hall, 31 Franklin St. The semifinals will be held tonight and the finals will be held Nov. 24. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the first bout is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.

Chamber choir concert: Sine Nomine, the a cappella chamber choir, will perform William Byrd’s “Mass for Four Voices” on Sunday at 4 p.m., St. Mary’s Cathedral Church, 327 Second St. The choir will also perform some of his Elizabethan anthems in English and Latin.

Irish Heritage Association: The Irish Heritage Association of Greater Fall River’s monthly meeting will be held Tuesday in the Laurel Room at McGovern’s restaurant, 310 Shove St.
The meeting’s featured speaker will be author Walter Mitchell, who will discuss the Irish and the impact they had on the Borden murders. The speaking program will begin at 7:30 p.m. after a brief business meeting. The lecture is free to the public.
The Claddagh Club, which raises funds to grant scholarships to students, is now open for enrollment.

Candlelight vigil: In recognition of Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, the Fall River Homeless Service Providers Coalition will hold a candlelight vigil Tuesday on St. Anne’s Church’s front steps, 818 Middle St., at 6 p.m.
Adoption by Choice: Adoption by Choice, an adoption and pregnancy counseling program of Catholic Social Services for the Diocese of Fall River, will hold a free information session for individuals and families interested in domestic newborn or international adoption Thursday, at Catholic Social Services, 1600 Bay St., from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Call the Fall River office at (508) 674-4681 to register and for directions.
Child sexual-abuse program: The Greater Fall River Child Protection Council’s and St. Anne’s Hospital Youth Trauma Program is offering “Child Sexual Abuse: A Community Response” to area health and human-service providers Wednesdayfrom 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the hospital, 795 Middle St.
Mental-health, child-protection, medical and law enforcement providers from the Greater Fall River area who will discuss the problem of child sexual abuse are: Detective Sgt. Clifford Wright, commander of the police Crime Prevention Unit; Sheila Silva, Sexual Abuse Intervention Network coordinator, for Child and Family Services of Fall River; Joseph Silva, area program manager for the state Department of Social Services; Anne Parsons-Marchant, pediatric sexual-assault nurse examiner for the Bristol County Child Advocacy Center; Mary Griffin, pediatric sexual-assault nurse examiner for the Bristol County Child Advocacy Center; Jennifer Salem-Russo, coordinator of theYouth Trauma Program and Drug/Alcohol-Related Injuries from Vehicular Events (DRIVE) program, St. Anne’s Hospital

Cookies With Class: Cookies With Class, a fundraising dessert competition benefiting the Girl Scouts’ program to help at-risk girls become scouts, will be held Monday at Johnson & Wales Inn, 213 Taunton Ave. The event begins at 5:30 p.m.
Those attending will be able to taste the competing desserts, vote on their favorites and participate in silent and live auctions. Tickets are $60 each. For tickets, call (401) 331-4500. Baseball league meeting: The Swansea Independent Baseball League will hold a membership meeting Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Nike Site Playing Complex, Nike Site Road.
The meeting is open to all current league members. Discussion will touch on the 2007 season. The next meeting will be held Nov. 28 at 7 p.m.
School news: Joseph Case High School, 70 School St., will host its annual parent-teacher conferences Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Families may attend either conference, but are encouraged to attend on designated nights in order to balance attendance on the two evenings. Those with last names beginning with A through L are encouraged to attend the Tuesday session; and those with last names beginning with M through Z are encouraged to attend the Thursday night session. A map of the school and room assignments will be available at 6 p.m. Volunteer guides from the high school’s National Honor Society will be available both evenings and the School Council will have a parent/family survey on both evenings.
Refreshment will be available in the school’s library from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
