Fall River gang member sentenced to 20 years
01:00 AM EDT on Thursday, August 23, 2007
FALL RIVER — Mafioso gang member Nigel Vaughn, 21, formerly of Plymouth Avenue, has been sentenced to serve 18 to 20 years in prison for the April 2005 triple shooting at the former Larry’s Sports Pub, in the Corky Row section of the city.
A jury convicted him of three counts of mayhem, three counts of armed assault to murder and one count of unlawful possession of ammunition. All of his victims survived. A fourth person was grazed in the incident.
District Attorney C. Samuel Sutter said Vaughn will be on probation for 10 years once he is released from state prison, and the sentence should “serve as a warning to drug dealers and gang members about the kinds of sentences we are going to be asking for when they use their illegal firearms.”
The police said Vaughn had attacked four suspected rival crack cocaine dealers.
