Southcoast Hospitals Group has given its President's Award for Excellence to several area residents. The award recognizes outstanding efforts in delivering quality customer service. The winners were nominated by their peers:
Fall River
Maria Connie Gamboa , an interpreter at Charlton Memorial Hospital and Christine Raposa, a resource nurse at St. Luke's Hospital.
Somerset
Paula Machado , a team leader in the laboratory at Charlton Memorial Hospital.
Westport
Nancy O'Connell , an ultrasound technologist in radiology at Charlton Memorial Hospital.
NORTH ATTLEBORO
PLAY FESTIVAL: The North Attleboro High School Theatre Company will present its annual One Act Play Festival at 7 p.m Friday and Saturday, Jan. 13 and 14, in the Judith E. Cobb Theatre at North Attleboro High School, Landry Avenue. Each of the one-act plays is directed by a member of the company.
Friday evening's performance will include an audience favorites poll that will precede the awarding of prizes. On Saturday evening, medals will be awarded to the best actor and actress in each play, to the best director, and to the best technical crew member.
Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for students and senior citizens, and they may be purchased from 4 to 6 p.m. at the box office at the high school on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, Jan. 3, 4, 5, 10, 11 and 12. Tickets will also be available at the door.
SOMERSET
HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA PROGRAM: The Somerset Community Evening School will begin its high school diploma program on Monday, Jan. 30.
Course selection includes English, science, history and mathematics, and other courses in computer technology, law and sociology.

HONORED: The following were named Students of the Month for November: Meghan Depin, grade 11, for chemistry; Brienne Dufresne, grade 10, for Spanish; Timothy Faria, grade 12, for business management; Nicole Goyette, grade 9, for algebra; Benjamin Medeiros, grade 12, for music; Kevin O'Brien, grade 9, for graphics engineering; Erron Parker for English; and Kayla Spagna, grade 9, for both modern world history and art foundation.
