TODAY
FLAMES OF FALL: Aitken School, 165 Newman Ave., Seekonk, will celebrate Flames of Fall, an event that will feature 150 illuminated pumpkins in the school's courtyard. The display will be held, rain or shine, from 7 to 9 p.m.
The evening will also include a pumpkin cafe serving coffee, pie and apple crisp.
FUNDRAISER DANCE: There will be a fundraiser dance to benefit the Newman family, whose house was destroyed by fire on Sept. 25.
The dance will be held from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 143 Old Warren Rd., Swansea.

TODAY AND TOMORROW BOOK SALE: The Friends of the Fall River Public Library will hold its annual book sale from noon to 4 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow. Tomorrow's event will also feature a cake sale.
ALL WEEKENDFALL SHOW: Bristol County Agricultural High School, 135 Center St., Dighton, will hold its annual fall show from noon to 6 p.m. today to Sunday.
The event will feature landscape plots, and floral displays, animal shows, tree-climbing arborist demonstrations, rebuilt and newly built machinery, floral demonstrations and plant sales.
TOMORROW
YARD SALE: The North Attleboro Historical Society will hold a multi-family yard sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the grounds of the Woodcock Garrison House and Little Red Schoolhouse, 362 North Washington St., near the junction of Routes 1 and 1 A.
Funds raised are used for the continued maintenance of the historic Woodcock Garrison and Little Red Schoolhouse.
DEDICATION CEREMONY: A plaque will be dedicated in memory of Attleboro native 1st Lt. Francis Driscoll, who was killed in Vietnam on Feb. 29, 1968, at the age of 26. The ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Nickerson Park, off Snell Street, Attleboro. WALK FOR EDUCATION: The Citizens Scholarship Foundation of Fall River Dollars for Scholars is holding its 3rd annual Walk for Education at 12:30 p.m. at Bishop Connolly High School, Elsbree Street. Registration begins at noon. All proceeds from the walk will go towards scholarships for Fall River students. CHRISTMAS BAZAAR: The Rehoboth Senior Citizens Club will hold its annual Christmas bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Senior Center, 55 Bay State Rd.
The event will feature baked goods, white elephant table, raffles, handmade knit items, jewelry, and food.
PAJAMA PARTY: Serta Mattress Co. and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation will hold its first-ever Counting Sheep for a Cure pajama party from 2 to 5 p.m. at Alperts Furniture Showplace, 100 Highland Ave., Seekonk.
Adults and children should wear public-appropriate pajamas.
Activities for the whole family include door prizes, mini massages and games for children. The Serta Counting Sheep mascot will also be on hand.
MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY: State officials will join more than 50 students and community members to celebrate Make a Difference Day, a national day of service from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. when they will remove trash and debris from multiple locations on Cook Pond, Fall River.
The event is part of the Massachusetts Community Water Watch's statewide Make a Difference Day cleanup.
Participants should meet at the Henry Street boat ramp at noon.
BOOK SALE: The Dighton Public Library, 395 Main St., will hold its annual fall book sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
SUNDAYORGAN RECITAL: David Carrier will perform an organ recital in memory of Paul DeLisle at St. Anne's Church, South Main Street, Fall River, at 4 p.m.
The concert benefits St. Mary's Cathedral Pipe Organ Fund and will feature the works of Daquin, Bach, Dupre, and Franck.
A free-will offering will be accepted.
HARVEST FEST: The Friends of the Attleboro Animal Shelter will hold its second annual Harvest Fest from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Attleboro Animal Shelter grounds, Pond Street. The event will feature a craft fair, yard sale, children's activities and food. All proceeds support the Friends of Attleboro Animal Shelter.
APPARATUS PARADE: The Rehoboth Fire Department will hold an Apparatus Parade and Safety Day from 1 to 3 p.m. at the South Rehoboth Fire Station, 104 Pleasant St.. The parade will begin at 1:30 p.m and travel from the North Fire Station on Tremont Street to Route 118 and end at the South Fire Station.
The event will also include demonstrations, safety information, games, and refreshments.
UPCOMING
HALLOWEEN FUN: Capron Park Zoo, 201 County St., Attleboro, will hold a Halloween Hoopla! for families from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 28.
The event will include a moonwalk for children, games, face painting, a parade of costumes and family pumpkin carving.
The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children.
HALLOWEEN PROGRAM: The Westport Public Library, 408 Old County Rd. is sponsoring a Family Unscary Halloween Program suitable for children 3 and older at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28.
Refreshments will be served.
HAM AND BEAN LUNCHEON: Community Development Recreation will hold a Senior Harvest Dance and luncheon from noon to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at its site, 72 Bank St., Fall River.
Tickets are $3 and may be purchased at Community Development Recreation.

SCRAPBOOK DISCOVERY: Michael's Store, 85 Highland Ave. (Route 6), Seekonk, will host a scrapbook discovery day from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29.
The four-hour event will offer an interactive experience for beginner scrapbookers and paper crafters and will feature free activities and demonstrations.
BOOK SALE: The Friends of the Attleboro Public Library will hold its annual Friday and Saturday, Oct. 28 and 29, at the library, 74 North Main Street.
The hardcover book sale will feature a preview sale from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 28. Admission to the preview sale is $10. Also, from 11:30 to 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, the sale will be open to the public with free admission and will continue from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29.
HARVEST FESTIVAL: Blessed Trinity Parish will hold its annual Harvest Festival from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, and from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at a new location, 1340 Plymouth Ave., at Winthrop Street, Fall River.
The kitchen will serve traditional Polish and American foods and the event will feature homebaked goods, games, raffles, handmade crafts and a sweater sale.
SPAGHETTI SUPPER: St. John the Baptist Church, 945 Main Rd., Westport, will hold a spaghetti and meatball supper at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29.
The menu will include spaghetti and meatballs, tossed salad, Italian bread, spumoni and cookies, coffee, tea and punch.
Children's entertainment will also be provided. Costumes are optional.
Tickets are $7 for adults and $2.50 for children 10 and younger.

CRAFT FAIR: The third annual Autumn Craft Fair to benefit the Donald J. McNamara Scholarship Fund will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, in the Somerset High School cafeteria, Grandview Avenue.
The McNamara fund provides scholarships to Somerset High School graduates and awards to Somerset science teachers.
The fair will feature handcrafted items, children's crafts, refreshments and raffles.

CONCERT: Singer and instrumentalist Guy Mendilow will perform in concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at Congregational Agudas Achim, 901 North Main St., Attleboro.
The singer has been voted Boston's Best Local World Music Act in the Boston Phoenix Best Music Reader's Poll 2005 and is the winner of Global Rhythm Magazine World Music Song Contest.

CRAFT FAIR: The third annual Autumn Craft Fair to benefit the Donald J. McNamara Scholarship Fund will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, in the Somerset High School cafeteria, Grandview Avenue. Donald McNamara was a science teacher at Somerset High School, and the scholarship fund provides scholarships for students studying science in college and awards for special projects for Somerset science teachers.
The craft fair will feature the works of 40 crafters and artists from the area.
Light breakfast and luncheon items will be available.
HALLOWEEN FUN: Swansea Mall, Swansea Mall Drive will offer the following Halloween events:
Saturday, Oct. 29 -- 1 to 3 p.m., Pumpkin Painting. Children, ages 4 to 12, must pre-register at the Customer Service Center.
3:30 to 5 p.m., Radio Disney will hold a costume contest.
Monday, Oct. 31 -- 5 p.m., Trick or Treat event. Participating stores throughout the shopping center will give out treats to children in costumes, ages 12 and younger who are accompanied by an adult. Participating stores will display orange and black balloons at the entryways. Free Halloween safety bags are available at the mall's Customer Service Center.
ROAD RACE AND DOG WALK: Pet Partners will hold its Great Pumpkin Road Race and Dog Walk at 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, beginning at White's Restaurant/Hampton Inn, exit 9, off of 195 East, Westport.
The road race is 4 miles and the dog walk or solo walk is 2.5 miles.
The registration fee is $15 if paid online at race.petpartnersne.org and $20 on the day of the race.
All registered participants will receive a Pet Partner's race/walk T-shirt.
HALLOWEEN SAFETY WALK: The New England Family Wellness Foundation, Inc., 29 Fifteenth St., Fall River, will hold a 5K Halloween Safety Walk and children's fair from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 30.
The $5 registration fee will include a safety backpack.
The event will also feature the Fall River Fire Department's "Kid's Fire Safety House," fitness and musical demonstrations, costume contest and prizes.
The registration and costume safety check begins at 11:30 a.m.
SYMPHONY: The Greater Fall River Symphony Society, Inc. will perform in concerts at 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 30, at the Margaret L. Jackson Arts Center at Bristol Community College, 777 Elsbree St. Admission is $15. Soloists for the concert are Ann Danis, violin, and Christine Harrington, cello.
HOLIDAY BAZAAR: St. Stephen Church, 683 South Main St., Attleboro, will hold its annual holiday bazaar from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5. The kitchen will serve clamcakes and clam chowder on Friday and homemade French meat pies and chicken soup on Saturday.
Clamcakes, blade meat sandwiches, hamburgers, hot dogs, French fries and fruit squares will be available both days. The bazaar will also feature crafts, homemade breads, cakes and pastries and candies, hand knitted items, linens, dolls, jewelry, games and raffles.
CHRISTMAS BAZAAR: The Church of Our Saviour, 2112 County St., Somerset, will hold its eighth annual Christmas Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5. Craft tables are available to rent for $20. For more information, call (508) 669-6277.
CHRISTMAS BAZAAR: The Memorial Baptist Church, 340 Central Ave., Seekonk, will hold its annual Christmas Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 5.
The bazaar will feature a cookie corner, silent bid table, bake shop, country store, grandma's attic, woodworking shop, quilting/sewing corner, holiday table, ladies table and crafts.
Lunch will be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
GHOSTS OF WAR: Author and historian Edward Lodi will discuss ghosts and unsolved mysteries associated with King Philip's War at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Carpenter Museum, 4 Locust Ave., Rehoboth.
The author, who will publish a book on the subject next year, has visited numerous haunted sites and has spent many hours at libraries and museums researching the subject.
HARVEST SUPPER: The Seekonk Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, 600 Fall River Ave., will hold a Harvest Supper with two seatings at 5 and 6:45 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 5. Tickets are $10 for adults and $4 for children 5 to 12.
The menu will include baked ham, mashed potatoes, butternut squash, harvest beets, onions, cole slaw, rolls and butter, apple crisp and beverage.

CRAFT SHOW: The North Attleboro National Honor Society will sponsor a craft fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, in the high school gym, Landry Avenue.
CHRISTMAS BAZAAR: St. Michael's Parish will hold a Christmas bazaar from noon to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at the Parish Center, 530 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea.
The kitchen will serve chowder, chow mein sandwiches, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, Syrian meat pies, desserts and beverages.

HAM AND BEAN SUPPER: St. Patrick's Parish will hold a ham and bean supper and craft fair from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, in the Parish Hall, South Street, Somerset.
The supper will be served after the 4 p.m. Mass and will also be available during the day. The cost is $5.
Homemade clam chowder, soups, chourico and pepper sandwiches, and baked goods will also be available.
CHRISTMAS FAIR: The 29th annual Christmas Arts and Crafts Fair will be held at Durfee High School from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 3 an 4, at Durfee High School, 360 Elsbree St., Fall River.

Proceeds from the fair will go towards scholarships for Fall River students in June.
