HELPING HAND FUNDRAISER: Southcoast Hospitals Group and FUN 107's Pink Angel Project will hold a Vegas Night fundraiser to benefit local cancer patients.

Vegas Night will be held at the Hawthorne Country Club, 970 Tucker Rd., North Dartmouth. The event will benefit the Elaine Fogaren Helping Hands Program at The Oncology Center in Dartmouth. TODAY AND TOMORROWTHEATER PERFORMANCE: The North Attleboro High School Theatre Company will perform the musical Hello, Dolly! at 7 p.m. today and tomorrow in the Judith E. Cobb Theatre, Landry Avenue.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students and senior citizens and may be purchased at the door.

QUILT FAIR: The Grace Episcopal Church, 104 North Washington St., North Attleboro, will hold a quilt fair, A Festival of Bed Quilts, featuring antique and traditional bed quilts from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m Saturday. Three quilts will be raffled.

Admission is $5 with discounts for seniors, teenagers and children. Lunch will be available on Saturday.

MUSICAL PERFORMANCE: The Bishop Stang Drama Department will present Jesus Christ Superstar at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, in the John C. O'Brien Gymnasium at the high school, 500 Slocum Rd., North Dartmouth.

Tickets, available at the door, are $8.

THEATRE PERFORMANCE: The Bristol Community College Theatre Repertory will perform Sophocles' Elektra at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the Jackson Arts Center, 777 Elsbree St., Fall River. For dramatic effect, the play will be staged in black and white. Tickets, available at the door, are $10 for the general public, $5 for students and seniors and $3 for high school seniors.

ALL WEEKENDYOUTH MUSICAL THEATRE: The Youth Musical Theatre Corp. will stage Honk at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and at 1 p.m. Sunday, in the Durfee High School auditorium, Elsbree Street, Fall River.

Honk is a musical comedy that is an adaptation of the Hans Christian Andersons' Tale of The Ugly Duckling.

GARDEN FESTIVAL: Tranquil Lake Nursery, 34 River St., Rehoboth, will hold a Spring Garden Festival from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

10 a.m. -- Creating container gardens, filled with shrubs, perennials, herbs and grasses with Warren Leach, horticulturist and co-owner of Tranquil Lake Nursery.

10:30 a.m. -- Choice Ornamental Trees and Shrubs for the Garden with Philip Kratsch of Turtle Cover Nursery, Greenville.

11 a.m. -- Making hypertufa troughs with John Dufort, landscape foreman and sculptural artist.

11:30 a.m. -- Combining woody plants and perennials in the mixed border with Warren Leach.

Noon -- Flower arranging with spring bulbs and flowers with Debi Hogan, gardener and award-winning flower arranger.

12:30 p.m. -- Herbs and other fragrant plants with Gilbert Moore.

1 p.m. Creating stone mosiac paths with John Dufort.

BOOK SALE: The Dighton Public Library, 395 Main St. will hold its spring book sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

GARDENING WORKSHOP: The Attleboro Farms Nursery and Greenhouses, Route 1, North Attleboro, will host a container gardening workshop from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Topics for discussion will include keeping plants looking healthy, when to water, location of containers, potting particulars, watering techniques and food for containers. Participants should bring their own window boxes or containers.

SPRING ON THE FARM: The Buttonwood Park Zoo, Hawthorn Street, New Bedford, will celebrate Spring on the Farm from 1 to 4 p.m. Activities, free with zoo admission, will include seed planting and loom weaving.

LIVING ROSARY The National Shrine of Our Lady of LaSalette and the Massachusetts Knights of Columbus State Council will hold its 18th annual Pro-Life Rosary and Mass beginning with the Rosary at 3 p.m. at the Shrine, 947 Park St., Attleboro. The Mass will follow at 4:30 p.m..

The Rev. Joseph Baggetta, chaplain for the Department of Youth Services, Metropolitan Youth Service Center, Dorchester, and chaplain for the Massachusetts State Police at Logan Airport, with be the principal celebrant.

WORKING WATERFRONT FESTIVAL: The Working Waterfront Festival, Fishermen's Emergency Relief Fund and Fishermen's Tribute Fund will hold a joint fundraiser, Benefish Concert 2005, at 7:30 p.m. at the Zeiterion Theatre, New Bedford.

The event will feature a concert by The Souls of the Sea Band and rarely seen video footage of offshore commercial fishing.

MAY DAY CELEBRATION: The Winslow Animal Farm Sanctuary, 37 Eddy St., Norton, will hold a May Day Celebration from noon to 3 p.m.

Visitors will make their own May baskets and paper flowers and there will be face painting for the children.

Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for children. All proceeds go toward the care and feeding of the rescued animals on the farm.

WREATH LAYING CEREMONY: The Polish-American Citizens Club will hold a wreath laying ceremony to honor General Tadeusz Kosciuszko, a Polish and American Patriot, at 1 p.m. at the Kosciuzko Monument, at the intersection of East Main, South Main and Hamlet streets, Fall River.

JURIED EXHIBITION: The Attleboro Arts Museum, 86 Park St., will hold a national juried art exhibition of 45 artists from across the United States and Canada from May 1 to 27.

An opening reception will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the museum. Admission is free.

Gallery hours are from 10 a.m to 5 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.

MAY BREAKFAST: The North Attleborough Historical Society will hold its annual May Breakfast from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Little Red Schoolhouse, next door to the Woodcock Garrison House, 362 N. Washington St.

The menu will include homemade muffins and pies, sliced ham, scrambled eggs, home fries and oven-baked beans.

TEEN PAGEANT: The Massachusetts Outstanding Teen and Massachusetts Outstanding Pre-Teen pageant for 2005 will be held at 4 p.m. in the Bristol Community College auditorium, Elsbree Street, Fall River.

CRAFT GROUP: The Creative Craft Group of the Congregational Christian Church of Somerset, 1411 County St., will hold a spring craft and gift sale from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 7.

MAY BREAKFAST: The Olde White Church, G.A.R. Highway, Route 6, Swansea, will hold a May Breakfast from 6:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday, May 7.

The menu will include fruit juice, scrambled eggs, bacon, ham, pancakes, baked beans, muffins, scones, brown bread, coffee, tea and milk.

May baskets with homemade candy will also be sold.

PLANT SALE: The Fall River Garden Club will hold a plant sale, rain or shine, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 7, on the Adam's House Lawn, 1168 Highland Ave. Annuals, perennials, large hanging plants, decorated pots and Mother's Baskets will be available for purchase.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Garden Club's activities, which include civic beautification and education.

Elise Barrar, a junior at Somerset High School, will play the lead role of Firebird.

PLANT SALE: The Rehoboth Garden Club will hold a plant sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 14, in the clambake shed behind Goff Memorial Hall, Bay State Road.

A large variety of perennials and annuals will be offered. Proceeds from the sale will be used for local environmental projects and scholarships.

DOG WALK: The sixth annual Dog Walk and Pet Fest will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 15, in Buttonwood Park, Hawthorn Street, New Bedford. Registration for the 2-mile walk will begin at 11.

The Pet Fest will include animal rescue booths, pet health information, demonstrations, contests, music and refreshments.

This year's event will also feature Carbiner's "Ivory Tower," a 42-foot outdoor climbing wall.

SENIOR FUNDRAISER: The Friends of Rehoboth's Elderly will hold a yard sale fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 14, the rain date will be May 15, at the Gladys L. Hurrell Senior Center, 55 Bay State Rd. (Route 118).

CONCERT RESCHEDULED: The South Coast Chamber Music Society will present its concert of music for piano trio at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 19, at Grace Church, 133 School St., New Bedford. A post-concert reception will follow.

The program will include the First Piano Trio by 13-year-old Richard Strauss and the First Piano Trio of an older Felix Mendelssohn. The program will conclude with the Dumky Piano Trio in E minor by Antonin Dvorak.

Tickets may be purchased on the day of the concert and are $15 for general admission, $12 for seniors and $8 for students. Children under 12 are admitted for free.

BENEFIT PERFORMANCE: The Attleboro Area Council of Churches will host Chrys Alam in Brides, Bells and Bull Mastiffs, Pages from the Diary of a Wedding Singer at 7 p.m. Friday, May 20, at the National Shrine of Our Lady of LaSalette, 947 Park St., Attleboro.

The performance is directed by John O'Neil with musical arrangements and accompaniment by Jim Rice.

RIVER RUN: The Westport River Watershed Alliance will host its second annual River Run canoe/kayak race on the East Branch of the Westport River on Saturday, June 11. Registration will be by mail or from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. the day of the race. The race begins at the Hix Bridge Landing, Hix Bridge Road, Westport.

The race is open to single kayaks, double kayaks and canoes. Participants will have the option of competing in one of two courses, a 3.5-mile family fun course or a 8.5-mile challenge course.

The entry fee is $15 per boat for members and $20 for others. The registration fee includes water, snack and a T-shirt. Food will be available after the race.

BENEFIT CONCERT: "The Experiment" Benefit Concert will take place at 7 p.m. Friday, June 24, at White's of Westport.

All proceeds will be donated to the Sponsor A Child Program, which provides underprivileged children the opportunity of pursuing a dream of art or music.

The proceeds will be divided between the Fall River Art Association and the Rick's Music World Educational Fund and will pay for instrument rentals, art supplies, and professional lessons.
