Bank honored for environmental efforts

At the Audubon Society’s annual Garden Gala, 150 guests were chirping about Westerly-based Washington Trust.
The folks who run the bank received recognition for showing a commitment to conservation and environmental programs. This year’s celebration was on June 7 at the Roger Williams Botanical Gardens.
Guests mingled in a garden setting, helping to raise $40,000. The Audubon Society of Rhode Island, founded in 1897, is independent and unaffiliated with the National Audubon Society. Its mission embraces preservation, protection, land conservation and advocacy. The Society either protects or owns some 9,500 acres of woodlands and coastal property.
