Samantha Rose Hart, 8, of Wallingford, Conn., and Kelsey Pedro, 9, of Pawtucket at the Crystal Ball for the Arthritis Foundation. The Nov. 15 party at the Newport Marriott was attended by 250 guests and raised $100,000 for programs and services of the foundation. Samantha’s family hosts a golf tournament and motor cycle rally and Kelsey’s family runs Edd Pedro’s Annual Wiffleball Tournament. Both girls have benefited from research into juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. The group gave its Lifetime Achievement Award to Dr. A. Louis Mariorenzi, the chief of orthopaedic surgery at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital and a clinical instructor at the Alpert Medical School at Brown University. He was the first in the state to perform total joint replacement surgery.
