A special WaterFire in celebration of the Fourth of July will burn brightly , thanks to a coalition of local hotels and restaurants. A special edition of the fiery art installation will be held Saturday, beginning at 8:45 p.m. and continuing through midnight.
The lighting, which was not on WaterFire’s initial schedule, is being sponsored by members of Providence’s hospitality industry, including Cafe Nuovo, The Capital Grille, Mill’s Tavern, the Westin Providence hotel and the Providence Biltmore.
Besides the floating bonfires, the evening will feature a return performance of Starry, Starry Night, a new light-installation by WaterFire creator Barnaby Evans. In honor of the July 4th holiday, the installation’s lights will glow in patriotic shades of red, white and blue.
