This is the first of three weekends of the 10th annual Pawtucket Arts Festival. Here’s this weekend’s lineup:
Tonight
John Turco’s Comedy Clubhouse, a free show at 9 in Corinne’s Banquet Hall, 1593 Newport Ave.
Tomorrow
The Festival Gala is from 6 to 10:30 p.m. at the Slater Mill Historic Site, 67 Roosevelt Ave. There’s the Taste of Pawtucket from 6 to 8 p.m.; admission is $15, free for those younger than 10. There’s live music from 6 to 10 p.m.: Slippery Sneakers and Buckwheat Zydeco will perform.
YMCA Family Fun Night takes place at the Visitor Center, 175 Main St., beginning at 6 p.m. There’s an obstacle course and family activities. At 8 p.m. there’s a movie. Admission is $15, free for those younger than 10.
Saturday
The R.I. Dragonboat Races and Taiwan Day is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the School Street Pier. In addition to dragon boat races, there will be crafts and martial arts demonstrations, Taiwanese music and dance, and at 12:30 p.m. a Chinese dumpling-eating contest. Admission to the contest is $10. Admission to the festival is free.
The R.I. Antiques Mall, 345 Fountain St., presents “appraisal day” from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There’s no charge to browse. Appraisals are $10 for one item, $25 for three items.
Mixed Magic Theatre presents The Greatness of Gospel, a medley of gospel tunes, in Veterans Memorial Amphitheater on Roosevelt Avenue at 8 p.m. There’s a suggested donation of $5.
The Magnolia Cajun Band plays at the LeFoyer Club, 151 Fountain St., 7:30 to 11 p.m. There’s a dance lesson at 7:30 followed by show at 8. Admission is $14.
Sunday
The Slater Mill Labor & Ethnic Heritage Festival is from noon to 5 p.m. at the Slater Mill Historic Site, 67 Roosevelt Ave. There will be history, music and dance.Dance Rhode Island, with performances from Jump!, Fusionworks and Cadence Collaborative, is at the Pawtucket Armory, 172 Exchange St., 1 to 3:30 p.m.
The Antique & Classic Car Exhibit is in the parking lot of the Apex building on Main Street, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The R.I. Antiques Mall, 345 Fountain St., presents “dealer day,” with more than 200 dealers, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Mixed Magic Theatre performs The Greatness of Gospel at Veterans Memorial Amphitheater on Roosevelt Avenue at 8 p.m. There’s a $5 suggested donation.
“An Afternoon of Music & Poetry” featuring the Sam Hill Quartet and Aurea is 4 to 6 p.m. at the Pawtucket Congregational Church, 40 Walcott St.
A one-hour walking tour of Park Place and the Church Hill Historic District, presented by the Preservation Society of Pawtucket, is at noon, leaving from the Visitor Center at 175 Main St.
