It seems as though reality TV is full of Rhode Islanders these days.
Barrington’s Shanna Moakler is a contestant on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, which airs tonight at 8. Moakler was Miss USA in 1995. She posed for Playboy (Miss December 2001), acted in the films Poison Ivy: The New Seduction and Big Momma’s House 2, been romantically linked with boxer Oscar de la Hoya and had her own reality show on MTV with husband Travis Barker, drummer for rock band Blink 182. Last month Barker and Moakler announced they were getting a divorce.
NBC reality series The Biggest Loser will start the new season with a two-hour episode airing tomorrow at 8 p.m. with 50 contestants from every state. Rhode Island’s contestant is Erin Jeffrey of Charlestown. The first 50 contestants will be cut down to 14 — but there’s a twist.
The other 36 contestants will continue to play at home with the help of a Web site, The Biggest Loser workout DVD and book, and contacts with the show’s medical team. Then the man and woman who lost the most pounds, measured as a percentage of their starting weight, will get to rejoin the show.

The CBS series Waterfront will be shooting today at The Henry Barnard School on the campus of Rhode Island College. The series stars Joe Pantoliano as fictional Providence mayor Jimmy Centrella and William Baldwin as Rhode Island’s attorney general. The Henry Barnard School will be used to portray the school that their children attend.
Rhode Island College admissions officer (and actor) Jason Anthony has a small role as a city councilman in the series.
“The campus community welcomes the cast and crew of Waterfront and is looking forward to hosting them and bringing a little bit of Hollywood to RIC,” said college spokesperson Jane Fusco. The set is not open to the public.
