People: R.I.-based film wins Philly award
07/07/2008 01:00 AM EDT
Filmmaking brothers George and Evangelos Giovanis, originally from Coventry but now living in Los Angeles, have won the best feature film award at the 31st annual Philadelphia International Film Festival and Market for their film, Run It, which was shot last summer on locations across Rhode Island.
Run It revolves around the adventures of a pair of men who have just dumped a body and then get tangled up with a substitute teacher trying to rescue his dying grandfather and a student cutting class.
Made on high-definition video for less than $200,000, the Giovanis brothers shot Run It on locations ranging from the University of Rhode Island to Federal Hill to a West Warwick restaurant to a Coventry barber shop. They took home a trophy from Philadelphia and are now shopping their film to distributors.
