Block Island.
Parade steps off from American Legion Park, 11 am. Fire Department Annual Steak Fry at The Firebarn, 12:30 pm, $20.
Bristol.
•Patriotic Exercises, Colt Memorial School, Hope Street, Bristol. 8:30 am.
•Military, Civic and Firemen’s Parade (224 annual), steps off at 10:30 am at Chestnut and Hope streets and ends on High Street, Bristol.
•Fourth of July Parade Picnic, Linden Place, 500 Hope St., Bristol. 253-0390, lindenplace.org. Guests can watch the 224th annual parade in bleacher-style seating or tables and chairs under the shade of the Linden trees and enjoy a continental breakfast and picnic lunch, restroom facilities and elbow room. $60, children $45; Linden Place members $50, children $40 (includes breakfast and lunch).
Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular, DCR Hatch Memorial Shell, 10 Storrow Drive, Charles River Esplanade, Boston. The Boston Pops Independence Day Party features Neil Diamond, with Craig Ferguson hosting. Pops concert begins with the national anthem and flyover at 8:30 pm. Fireworks begin at 10:30 pm.
Boston Symphony Orchestra, with Diana Krall, Tanglewood, The Shed, 297 West St., Lenox, Mass. (888) 266-1200, bso.org. 7 pm. Fireworks after concert. Grounds open at 4 pm. $10-$105.
Coventry. Fireworks Display, Johnson’s Pond, Wood Estates Area. 8:30 pm.
Cumberland. Arnold Mills Celebration.
•Road Race begins at 9 am from the North Cumberland Fire Station, 50 Arnold Mills Rd., Cumberland.
•Parade starts at 11 am on Nate Whipple Highway (Route 120) near the North Attleboro town line and concludes at the junction of Abbott Run Valley Road and Nate Whipple Highway.
•Concert on the village green in front of Arnold Mills United Methodist Church at 1 pm. 333-1381, arnoldmillsparade.com.

•Flag Ceremony. Flag folding and flag retirement ceremony. Public invited to bring their old flags and have them properly retired. Visitors will receive a complimentary booklet with facts about our flag.
•Fireworks Display. View the display from the decks of the Battleship. $3 per ticket. Gates open at 7:30 pm, display at 9 pm.
Glocester. Ancients and Horribles Parade. Parade steps off at 4 pm from Routes 100 and 98, travels along Putnam Pike (Route 44), Chepachet. 568-6206, glocesterri.org.
Providence. Independence Day Celebration, India Point Park, India Street. Performances by RPM Voices, a community choral group, and Carlos de Leon Band, Afro-Latino music, 7:30 pm. Fireworks display, 9:15 pm. Free.
Newport.
•Fireworks Display. 9:15 pm. Best viewing anywhere along Newport Harbor, facing west. Public restrooms open at King Park and the Harbormaster building at Perrotti Park. Portable restrooms available at Storer and Battery Parks, Washington Street. Rain cancellation announcement at (401) 845-5800 after 6 pm.
•Missing Element’s 4th of July Bash, The Landing, 30 Bowen’s Wharf. Music for all ages from 2 pm; 21+ after 10 pm.
•Rose Island Lighthouse Foundation’s 25th Anniversary Party and 4th of July Celebration, Rose Island Lighthouse. Food by Becky’s Barbecue including grilled chicken and pork ribs, hot dogs, hamburgers, veggie burgers, watermelon; live music; children’s activities include rock painting and beach seining. 5:30-10:30 pm. $75, members $65, children 6-12 $35, children 5 and younger free (includes barbecue, entertainment, tours and round-trip boat to Rose Island. 847-4242.
North Kingstown. The Lafayette Band, North Kingstown Town Beach, Beach Street, Wickford. With The Hummingbird Trio. Independence Day Concert. 7 pm. Free. Fireworks display at dusk (rain date July 5).
Scituate Old Home Day, Tourtellot Memorial Common (Village Green), Route 116, North Scituate. Family activities including teddy bear judging, dunking pool, fire apparatus display. 9 am. 647-3366.
South Kingstown.
•Snug Harbor 4th of July Parade. Steps off at 6 pm from the Snug Harbor Marina, proceeds to Hartford Avenue, to West Street, to Gooseberry Road, to Hull Street, to Point Avenue, to Sherman Road, to Gooseberry Road and ends at the marina. Fire apparatus floats, marching units, music, antique automobiles and tractors are featured. 789-0409.
•Celebration, Old Mountain Field, Kingstown Road. Children’s activities, live musical entertainment begin at 5 pm. Food vendors, novelty items for sale. Fireworks Display at 9 pm.
