Seize Saturday: Saint Rocco Church Feast in Johnston

Saint Rocco Feast

Feast and fete. The Saint Rocco Church Feast and Festival, which began Thursday, continues today and tomorrow at 927 Atwood Ave., Johnston. There will be music, rides and games, food, beer and fireworks. And, of course, there’s the Saint Rocco procession. The fair is open today, 6 to 10:30 p.m., and tomorrow, 2:30 to 10:30 p.m., following the noon procession of Saint Rocco. Admission is free. Call (401) 942-5203.

Dancing on the lawn

The Rhode Island Historical Society presents “Morris Dancing on the John Brown House Lawn.” That’s at the corner of Benefit and Power streets in Providence. Today’s 3:30 p.m. performance presents two Morris dance teams: the Ladies of the Rolling Pin from Rhode Island, and The Wreckers from Cornwall, England. Kidney foundation fundraiser

Duke Robillard and Steve Smith and the Nakeds top the bill at the second annual Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation benefit, tomorrow at the Providence Firefighters Hall, 90 Printery St., Providence. Washington County Fair

The Washington County Fair, the state’s biggest agricultural fair, which began Wednesday, continues today, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., and tomorrow, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., off Route 112 in Richmond. There are carnival rides and games, live music, and lots of competition, from the quirky –– spitting watermelon seeds and throwing dung –– to the classic –– showing flowers, vegetables and animals. WaterFire tonight

There’s a full WaterFire tonight, 7:44 to midnight, with 100 braziers burning on the rivers of downtown Providence. There are also performances on the Sovereign Plaza Ballroom at the intersection of Westminster and Weybosset streets: a dance lesson at 7; a dance demonstration at 7:45; and a concert by the 12-piece Salsa Night Band at 8. In addition, 6,000 origami cranes, a symbol of peace, will be handed out during the event. WaterFire is weather-dependent and is canceled when there’s sustained, heavy rain.
