Lincoln bicentennial events in R.I.

Be part of a bicentennial birthday bash, Lincoln’s. Here are a few local celebratory events open to the public.

Tomorrow at 7 p.m. in the Governor Sprague Mansion, 1351 Cranston St., Cranston, is an appreciation of the words of our 16th president. Visitors are encouraged to bring their favorite Lincoln quotes and essays to share. Mayor Alan Fung is expected to attend. There will be light refreshments. There’s a suggested donation of $6. Thursday at 7 p.m. in Greene Public Library, 179 Hopkins Hollow Rd., Coventry, local historian Robert Grandchamp will give a talk on Lincoln’s connection with Rhode Island soldiers during the Civil War. Admission is free. For more information, call (401) 397-3873.

Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the First Unitarian Church, 1 Benevolent St., Providence, the Rhode Island Historical Society presents “An Evening with Lincoln.” Writer and actor Robb Dimmick will perform his one-man show, A.
