WaterSpot has luxury for baths, kitchens

WaterSpot, a local chain of stores for high-end bathroom and kitchens owned by four brothers who still run the family’s Providence plumbing mainstay, Ardente Supply Co. This metal tub is featured in their new Providence store.
Have you ever thought, on a cold morning, that a heated toilet seat might be the kind of pampering you could get into?
You’ll find such luxuries at WaterSpot, a local chain of stores devoted to upgrading your bathroom and kitchen.
The stores are the brainstorm of four brothers who run the 60-year-old Providence plumbing mainstay, Ardente Supply Co. They decided to usher in the new millennium with a complete company makeover.
After much discussion about the family-owned wholesale and retail plumbing supply stores in Providence and Woonsocket, Mark, Paul, Evan and Bruce Ardente decided it was time to re-invent and re-invigorate the business.
By 2005, they had updated and renovated the store in Woonsocket on Railroad Street, and opened a new showroom in Westerly on Tom Harvey Road (the former Bess Eaton corporate headquarters). They named the stores WaterSpot, and featured mid-to-high-end designer kitchen and bathroom fixtures, faucets, sinks, tubs, shower heads, hot tubs, saunas, lighting and accessories such as an assortment of drawer pulls.
Paul Ardente said that the showrooms boast such top-name lines as Jado, Grohe, Rohl, Toto (known for toilets), Villeroy and Boch, Zuma and Porcher.
Another WaterSpot opened in 2006 in Framingham, Mass., on Worcester Road. The latest one opened last month in Providence on Valley Street.
“We are much more than plumbing parts and fixtures now,” said Paul Ardente, a principal of the company who lives on the East Side of Providence. “Our hope is that customers will enjoy the wide range of products in a warm and friendly environment.”
On a recent visit to the WaterSpot in Westerly, the roomy showroom-looking store offered a variety of kitchen faucets ranging in price from $100 to $1,500. Popular disk or rain shower heads were between $350 and $1,000. There were hard-to-find copper sinks, heated toilets, saunas, hot tubs and lots of choices of draw pulls made of crystal and glass.
“We created a shopping experience that is interactive,” Paul Ardente added. “Products are coordinated so that a customer can see what it will look like when installed.”
