Cranston West puts its unbeaten record (10-0-1) on the line today as the Falcons play at Bay View, which has won nine straight Division II girls soccer games. Game time is 3:45 p.m.
YESTERDAY'S TOP GAMES
Division II field hockey leaders Pilgrim (South) and Moses Brown (North) both needed goals with under two minutes to play in regulation to avoid upsets yesterday.
Pilgrim's Lexi Maxfield scored with 1:50 to play as the 11-1-1 Patriots defeated Rocky Hill (4-6-1), 2-1. Moses Brown needed a goal from Sarah Engle with just under two minutes left to stay unbeaten, as the Quakers (12-0) defeated Classical (1-9-1), 2-1.
BEST OF THE REST
-Division III-South leader Narragansett got goals from four different players as the unbeaten Mariners (9-0-2) cruised to a 4-1 win over Division III-North leader Johnston (8-3) in girls soccer. Gabby LaBove led the Mariners with a goal and an assist. Kayla Young, Allison Buxton and Elise Glidden had the other Narragansett goals.
-Shea moved into second place in Division IV girls soccer as the Raiders defeated city rival Tolman, 3-2. Shea entered the day one point behind Tolman for second place. Seli DaGraca had a goal and Leica DaGraca added a goal and an assist to lead the Raiders.
-Servi Barientos scored three goals, assisted on another and even played goal for a while, stopping three shots, as he led Rocky Hill to a 6-2 victory over Hyde School in an SENE Division III boys soccer match. Remy Corvese added a goal and two assists for the Crusaders.
-For the second time in a week, the Mount St. Charles girls tennis team had a match suspended only to come back the next day and suffer a 4-3 defeat, this time to Barrington.
On Tuesday, Barrington's first doubles team of Noel Barlow and Claire Kim lost the first set, 6-2, and won the second 7-6 (8-6). The match was called due to darkness and they returned to the court yesterday for the final set and clinched the match with a 6-0 victory.
Barrington won its other three matches in three sets -- Courtney Scanlon at first singles, Eunice Kim at third singles and at second doubles from the team of Kate Haworth and Sarah Cohen .
YESTERDAY'S STARS
-Lindsay Macera had a hat trick, including the game-winning goal for Bishop Keough over Central, 3-2, in girls Division IV soccer. The Koalas goal keeper, Megan Belmont, blocked 15 shots to the goal.
-Alex Fanna netted the game-winning goal with four minutes to play as Tiverton (7-1-3) avoided Lincoln's (4-6-1) upset bid with a 2-1 victory in Division III girls soccer.
-Davies' Camilo Estrada scored off a loose ball with two minutes remaining giving Davies a 1-1 tie with Tiverton in Division III boys soccer.
-John McDonough scored both Exeter/West Greenwich goals as the Scarlet Knights blanked Lincoln, 2-0, in Division III boys soccer.
-Kasey Prete scored two second half goals in Burrillville's 4-0 victory over Cranston East in Division III girls soccer.
-Ivannah Perez had a hat trick while teammate Carlene Fonseca had two goals and two assists in Central Falls' 6-1 girls soccer win over Mount Pleasant.
-Kara Hennigan and Emma Lynch each scored a goal leading St. Raphael to a 2-1 victory over North Providence in Division III girls soccer. With a win, North Providence would've moved into a first place tie with Johnston, which lost earlier in the day to Narragansett.
-Megan Padden scored the winning goal with 4 minutes, 30 seconds left in overtime after a 2-2 tie between Warwick Vets and Toll Gate, 3-2, in field hockey.
-Mike Price and Chris Kue each had a goal and an assist helping West Warwick stay unbeaten in Division III boys soccer with a 2-0 shutout over Burrillville.
-North Smithfield remained unbeaten in Division III-North boys soccer and stretched its lead over second place Lincoln, which lost to Exeter/West Greenwich, as the Northmen blanked Rogers, 3-0. Thomas Denomme led the Northmen offense with two goals.
