Barrington
Journal Profile
Barrington has won every Division I girls lacrosse championship since the sport was added to the Interscholastic League seven years ago, and Julie Ruggieri has played an integral role in the last four of those crowns. Named a U.S. Lacrosse High School All-American for the second time, the senior midfielder collected 58 goals and 47 assists in 16 games this season, bringing her career totals to 160 goals and 106 assists. She contributed four of those goals and assisted on three others in the Eagles' title win over North Kingstown. ``Julie is an All-American in every sense," Barrington lacrosse coach Peter Brock says of the Providence College-bound Ruggieri, who also helped the Eagles' undefeated field hockey team successfully defend its Division I title and then guided the girls basketball team to an undefeated season and the Division II Championship in her final year of high school. ``From taking control of a game because she knew could and the team needed her to do so to seeing and passing to freshman because they were in better position to score Julie epitomizes what it means to be a team player. Everyone played better with her on the team."
