Beaudette got her high school cross-country career off to a tremendous start this fall, establishing herself as Bay View's top runner. After finishing second in 15:37 at the 2.4-mile Freshman State Championships at Goddard Park, Beaudette was runnerup (20:09) to Westerly junior Emily Doucette at the Class B meet. The following week, she moved up three spots over the last half-mile en route to a seventh-place finish at the State Championships with a time of 19:22. Earlier in the season, Beaudette placed 13th in the competitive large schools varsity race at the Manchester Invitational. ``What stands out most about Stephanie is that she just loves to run,'' says Bay View coach Anne Hird. ``I could say a lot about how she has learned new strategies and training habits at the high school level, but the bottom line is that she is in the sport for all the right reasons.
About Stephanie
Favorite high school accomplishment: I just can't believe that I finished all state! And I made the honor roll.
Favorite athlete: Tiger Woods
Inspiration in life: My mom is a great inspiration to me. I run with her all of the time; her having experienced high school cross country first hand really helps her to understand what I am feeling. I look up to her and strive to be as good as her.
Favorite musician: Rascal Flatts
Song to get psyched for big race: "Eye of the Tiger"
Future plans: I hope to continue running and want to go into a career in physical and massage therapy.
20 years from now, I'll be: I want to keep running and stay active for as long as I can, and I want to stay involved in the high school cross country world after experiencing it first-hand. Hopefully when I have children they will pick up running as their sport of choice.
