High school hockey: Mounties clinch number-one spot in Division I, while Hendricken surges into second

They had played in the past five Division I state title series, including winning a pair of state titles, but when this season’s Hendricken hockey team lost four and tied one of its first seven Interscholastic League games, some started thinking the Hawks’ run as one of the top two teams in the state was finished.

The junior forward scored a total of 96 points in three games last week, helping the Panthers improve their Division III record to 13-0 with victories over Moses Brown, Juanita Sanchez and Middletown.
