Health matters: Learn how to dine for a healthy ’09

Eating Well: A free health education seminar will be held tomorrow from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Italian Working Men’s Club, 947 Diamond Hill Rd., Woonsocket. The talk, entitled “Learn How to Dine for a Healthy 2009,” will be given by Michelle Marquis, a wellness coordinator and self-described “Mom on a Mission.”

Forum on addiction: Deni Carise, director of an addiction treatment research institute in Philadelphia, will deliver the keynote address at the second annual forum sponsored by the Institute for Addiction Recovery at Rhode Island College Friday from 7:30 a.m. to noon in Alger Hall 110. Carise will review studies on the effectiveness of treatment and the role of motivation. The forum will also feature a discussion on the topic “Moving Rhode Island Toward Effective Recovery: What is Your Role?”
RIC established the institute to strengthen Rhode Island’s capacity to assist individuals, families and communities in their recovery from addiction through collaboration and integration of academic and community resources.
