State House hearings resume
01:00 AM EST on Sunday, January 11, 2009
State House hearings will resume tomorrow on an agreement with the federal government that would lift regulations now governing Medicaid coverage in Rhode Island. In return, the state would agree to limit Medicaid spending over the next five years.
Tomorrow’s hearing will begin at 1 p.m. in the House Finance Committee (Room 35). The hearing is open to the public.
Officials from the state Department of Human Services are expected to present additional information which was requested by the House committee during the course of their presentation last Friday, said House spokesman Larry Berman.
So far, 15 of the 35 people who signed up to testify at last Friday’s hearing did so, said Berman. The other 20 people, who included advocates for the poor, disabled and elderly, will be able to testify at tomorrow’s hearing, he said. Any other members of the public who have not spoken and wish to do so, he said, can sign up at the hearing tomorrow.
