Pairings, times set for charity tourney
01:00 AM EDT on Friday, June 13, 2008
Billy Andrade and Brad Faxon, the tournament co-hosts, will split up again for this year’s CVS Caremark Charity Classic, but otherwise the event will have teams that seem to fit well together.
Faxon will have Peter Jacobsen, whose company runs the event, as his partner. Both are returning from injuries. Andrade will combine with Davis Love III.
The two British players in the event, Justin Rose, the sixth-ranked player in the world, and Nick Faldo, the six-time major champion, will form one formidable team. Both are first-time competitors in the event that is to be held June 23-34 at Rhode Island Country Club.
Other teams include defending champions J.J. Henry and Stewart Cink, Laura Diaz with Nicole Castrale in what will be the second team of women to take part, and the young duos of Bubba Watson-Camilo Villegas and Boo Weekley-Brandt Snedeker.
The event includes a double shotgun pro-am on June 22 and a clinic put on by the players before the start of the first round. The clinic will include the Red Bull Air Force team that will glide to the 18th fairway.
The first-round pairings: 10:30 a.m. — Dana Quigley-Brett Quigley; Paul Goydos-Tim Herron; 10:40 —Bubba Watson-Camilo Villegas; Nick Faldo-Justin Rose; 10:50 — Billy Andrade-Davis Love III; Laura Diaz-Nicole Castrale; 11 — Brad Faxon-Peter Jacobsen; Charles Howell-Nick Price; 11:10 — J.J. Henry-Stewart Cink; Boo Weekley-Brandt Snedeker.
Free tickets are available with the purchase of qualifying products at Rhode Island CVS/pharmacy stores and participating locations in neighboring Southeastern Massachusetts. Spectator parking will be at Seekonk Speedway for $5 per car. Free shuttle buses will bring spectators to and from Rhode Island Country Club.
