Flower show details

The Newport Flower Show is Friday through Sunday at Rosecliff mansion on Bellevue Avenue. It features dozens of exhibits, lectures and garden vendors.

The show on Friday, which is noon to 5 p.m., offers a “bring a friend” discount: two people admitted for $22. There’s a terrarium demonstration, an introduction to roses and a tour of the trees around Rosecliff.

From 6 to 8 p.m., there are cocktails on the lawn ($125), followed by a dinner ($250 to $400).

On Saturday and Sunday, the show is 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. In addition to scores of exhibits in dozens of design categories, on Saturday at 11 a.m. there’s a luncheon with a lecture by horticultural writer Tovah Martin: “Begged, Borrowed and Stolen: Hard-Earned Secrets of Professional Gardeners.” Admission, with reservations, is $75. Also on Saturday are free demonstrations and lectures about such things as garden ponds and succulent plants.

On Sunday, there are free lectures about creating bridal bouquets, preserving trees and developing tranquil places with plants. At 1 p.m., there’s “Roses, Roses, Roses: A Special Forum with David Austin.” Admission, with reservations, is $45.

Regular one-day admission is $15 in advance, and $18 at the event. Children, ages 6 to 17, are $6. There’s also a “Garden Lover’s” ticket: $190, which includes admission for all three days, a luncheon, early access to exhibits and shopping ,and a tour of Chateau-sur-Mer, one of the properties of the Preservation Society of Newport County, the show’s sponsor.

Free parking is provided at Newport Grand, 150 Admiral Kalbfus Rd., with shuttle bus service to Rosecliff.
