Federal Hill offers temptations for any palate

All those gallery visits can make a person hungry. But there is no better spot than Federal Hill to satisfy any craving. Here are restaurant capsules of recently reviewed spots in the neighborhood and a list of other spots that might tempt the palate.

Blue Grotto Restaurant, 210 Atwells Ave. (401) 272-9030, bluegrottorestaurant.com. Once an old school restaurant, it got a facelift and makeover with new owner and fine menu of Italian specialties with flair. Upscale casual. Reservations. Complimentary valet parking. Wheelchair accessible. Children’s seats available. AE, D, MC, V. Open for lunch and dinner seven days.

Bob ’n’ Timmy’s Grille, 32 Spruce St. (401) 453-2221. Some of the best wood-grilled pizza in Rhode Island. The calzones aren’t too shabby either. Very casual. Open daily for lunch and dinner. V, M, AE, D. On-street parking. Highchairs and booster seats.

Caffe Dolce Vita, 59 De Pasquale Square. (401) 331-8240, caffedolcevita.com. From breakfast to dinner, this European café offers variety and al fresco dining. Casual. Reservations taken. AE, MC, V, D. Wheelchair accessible. Child seats. Breakfast Monday to Friday; brunch Saturday and Sunday; dinner seven days. On street-parking, or valet.

Camille’s, 71 Bradford St. (401) 751-4812. Creative cuisine as well as Italian favorites. Business casual. Reservations. Open Mon-Fri for lunch and dinner, Sat dinner only. V, MC, AE, D. Ample parking, with free valet. Highchairs.

Caserta Pizzeria, 121 Spruce St. (401) 621-3618. Local flavor and color at this institution established in 1946. Then there is the famous Wimpy Skippy — a spinach pie stuffed with cheese and pepperoni and wrapped in crust. Very casual. No credit cards. Open Tuesday-Sunday for lunch and dinner. Closed Monday. Small parking lot, plus on-street parking. Highchairs.

Cassarino’s Restaurant, 177 Atwells Ave. (401) 751-3333, cassarinosri.com. A large menu of fine Italian specialties. Open Monday-Friday for lunch and Monday-Saturday for dinner. AE, MC, V, D. High chairs. Patrons with disabilities request first-floor dining. Complimentary valet parking.

Costantino’s Ristorante & Caffe, 265 Atwells Ave. (401) 528-1100, vendaravioli.com. Mix the know-how of a family that’s been in the pasta-making business for more than 70 years with a menu of traditional Italian favorites, and you have Costantino’s. Casually upscale. Don Jose Tequilas, 351 Atwells Ave. (401) 454-8951, donjoseteq.com. Excellent Mexican food in a most beautifully designed Old World dining room. Brunch is excellent. Casual. Wheelchair accessible. Euro Bistro, 441 Atwells Ave. (401) 273-5900. Living up to its name, Euro Bistro is a smart little restaurant with a cozy bar and good food served in a casual atmosphere. Dressy casual. Wheelchair accessible. Child seats. Reservations. AE, MC, V. Tiny parking lot to the left of the restaurant, with additional parking in the lot across the street. MuMu Cuisine, 220 Atwells Ave. (401) 369-7040. Elegant Asian cuisine in the midst of Federal Hill. Dressy casual. Open daily for lunch and dinner. Handicapped accessible. Highchairs available. Reservations preferred. AE, MC, V. Valet and on-street parking.

Pane e Vino, 365 Atwells Ave. (401) 223-2230. Rustic, refined and with a hint of Old World Italy, and well-prepared Italian and Mediterranean food. Casually upscale. Reservations. It could double as a film set for a romantic assignation between Sophia Loren and Marcello Mastroianni in an Italian movie. Chef Walter Potenza maintains the careful hand in the kitchen. Dressy.
