David and Barbara Frerichs of Frerichs Farm in Warren were hosts last week for the crew of the Food Network show “Glutton for Punishment” and its host Bob Blumer.

As the star of this show, which includes various food related challenges, Blumer is given five days to become proficient at whatever skill the show is featuring that week. He visited Frerichs Farm in anticipation of his entry in the Edible Car Competition, which was held last week at Brown University. He competed against engineering students using racing vehicles made out of edible materials.

Footage at Frerichs included Blumer choosing pumpkins that would be used for his vehicle. A pumpkin car did win but not Blumers’.
