Hook your kids on fishing — start on Saturday, at the Family Fishing Derby.
THE PROVIDENCE JOURNAL / RUBEN W. PEREZ
Cast a line. Bring your kids. In fact, you can’t go without them. The Family Fishing Derby is Saturday, 5 to 6:30 p.m., in Ninigret Park, off Route 1A in Charlestown. It’s intended for children ages 14 and younger, who must be accompanied by a parent.
The fishing takes place in what’s called Little Nini Pond, which has perch, bass and trout. Participation costs $7, $4 for residents of South Kingstown. The town’s parks department is the sponsor, and requests people call to make reservations: (401) 789-9301. The rain date is May 10.
