Fishermen’s rite of spring Saturday
The state Division of Fish and Wildlife is stocking 67,000 trout in more than 100 streams and ponds for Opening Day of trout-fishing season Saturday. The fish-and-wildlife agency expects about 20,000 anglers to turn out for the 6 a.m. opening. The day also attracts anglers from Massachusetts and Connecticut because Rhode Island stocks larger trout than its neighbors. The fish are raised at state aquacultural facilities in North Kingstown and Richmond.
