SOUTH KINGSTOWN — You can get a free ride to the University of Rhode Island’s undergraduate graduation Sunday, courtesy of the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority.
Buses will depart from Galilee in Narragansett and Kennedy Plaza in Providence and drop off passengers at URI’s Memorial Union bus circle. The undergraduate commencement is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. in the quadrangle.
Rhode Island’s PBS station, WSBE-TV, will broadcast the graduation live on its WSBE Learn channel: digital 36.2 / Cox 808 / Verizon 478. The graduation will also be broadcast on radio station WRIU, 90.3 FM, and on the Web at uri.edu.
Barbara Meagher, of Johnston, an assistant professor of journalism at URI and a veteran television news reporter, will co-host a pre-commencement show with M. Beverly Swan, of Wakefield, retired URI provost and vice president of academic affairs, from the quadrangle, providing commentary and live interviews.
Dave Lavallee, of Wakefield, assistant director of URI’s department of communications and marketing, will provide commentary from the field.
If it rains, the graduation will be held in the Ryan Center.
