Recount in North Providence council race set for Monday

PROVIDENCE — The state Board of Elections will conduct a recount of the votes in the Democratic primary for North Providence Town Council in District 2.
The recount is being held at the request of John Sisto Jr., who is trailing the apparent winner, Joseph J. Giammarco by 53 votes. Giammarco has 1,055 votes to Sisto’s 1,002.
The recount will take place at the Board of Elections headquarters at 50 Branch Ave. at 9 a.m. Monday.
