A mother's
journey
Martina Sierra left her children to find a better life for them
in America. She never dreamed the price would be so dear.
When Martina
Sierra de Acevedo came to Providence from the Dominican Republic, seven years
ago, she had one goal: bring her five children here, where they would have a
future. It wouldn't be long, she thought, before they'd be together again.
This is their story, in words and photographs by Mary Beth Meehan.
