Thirty years ago, Mother Nature played a bad joke on southern New England. The present-day rush for bread and milk before a storm is among its legacies. So are these memories and images from those who lived through the Blizzard of '78, as compiled by the staff of The Providence Journal on the blizzard's 25th anniversary in 2003, and on its 20th anniversary in 1998.
