This series was written by Paul Davis, a reporter for The Journal’s South County edition, with photographs by Frieda Squires and illustrations by Frank Gerardi.
Last year, Davis and Squires produced the three-part series Priscilla – A Slave Story, an unprecedented account of a girl’s journey from West Africa to South Carolina on a slave ship owned by Rhode Island merchants.
